cedrice
The San Diego based singer largely known for her ethereal R&B style and acoustic covers blew judges away as a finalist for season 18 of the hit tv show The Voice. Cedrice held her own as the show transitioned to remote performances at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
She continues to share her gift of song via livestream performances and recently had a musical reunion with her Voice cast mates in a Black Lives Matter livestream performance fundraiser.
OKCello
The Washington, D.C.-born, Atlanta-based cellist-songwriter began playing cello at age six. His music integrates cello, live-sound-looping and improvisation on original compositions which collide classical with jazz, EDM, reggae and funk.
OkCello has performed and recorded with major label artists such as De La Soul, India.Arie and Big Boi - in his career as a music instructor.
His recent EP Resolve features themes of migration (“Broken Teacup”), racism (“Incredulous”) and joy (“Springtime in Wakanda”).
The Roots of music
The Roots of Music is a nonprofit after-school program, based in New Orleans, LA that provides music history and theory as well as instrumental instruction and ensemble performance preparation for kids ages 9-14 from low-income households.
The Roots of Music Marching Crusaders keep a full schedule of events, and are active every Mardi Gras season. In the past years members of Roots have been selected to perform for President Barack Obama at the Hurricane Katrina 10 Year Anniversary, and most recently at Essence Fest as part of a tribute to the late recording artist Prince.
